I want to open a beauty salon?

I'm going to start cosmetology school soon. I love to do hair, but what I really want to do is own a salon. After I get my license, is there anything else I need to do or know to open up a salon?I want to open a beauty salon?

You need an established clientele before you open a salon.





You should also work at a high traffic chain salon for a few years to get fast experience.





You dont want to get a bad reputation at your salon, learn the practice at a chain first.

You need to know something about leasing space, taxes, employment law, insurance, money management and marketing. If you are a great stylist and a lousy business person you will end up broke.
I would check with your County Clerk and see if any properties were up for auction due to non payment of taxes. All the county wants is the money. It's cheaper than going thru a realtor.Also see what permit(s) you'll need to register with county.
